I serve half-time as the Global Ambassador for Plant With Purpose (
www.plantwithpurpose.org). In January I stepped back from the role of CEO/Executive Director, after more than 30 years in leadership.
Plant With Purpose is an international Christian organization which partners with smallholder farmers around the world, in places where poverty and deforestation intersect. This work has given me the opportunity to work with and learn from many courageous colleagues in some remarkable and forgotten spots. I have a passion for sharing some of their stories.
In this next phase of my life, I am working on several writing projects, including a blog (
https://www.scottsabin.com ), a book on nonprofit leadership and I am experimenting with Substack:

I am particularly interested in the intersection between faith and the environment, effective international development and stories of faith in action.
I am the author of Tending to Eden: Environmental Stewardship for God’s People. (2010, Judson Press) My wife, Nancy, a Nurse Practitioner and college professor, and I are based in San Diego.
